Prize Bond Claim Form PB-23 and Required Documents

If you are searching for the Prize Bond claim form PB-1, there is an important correction to make before filling anything out. The current SBP BSC forms page lists PB-23 as the Prize Money Claim Application Form for ordinary National Prize Bonds. PB-1 is not the current general prize-money claim form. SBP separately lists PB-1-A for payment of the face value of mutilated or defaced Prize Bonds.

So, if you have won a prize on an Rs.100, Rs.200, Rs.750 or Rs.1,500 bearer Prize Bond, start with the current PB-23 form rather than downloading an old PB-1 file from an unofficial website.

Premium Prize Bonds are different. Holders of registered Rs.25,000 and Rs.40,000 Premium Prize Bonds do not normally submit a prize-money claim form because the prize amount is credited directly to the registered investor’s bank account.

What Is the Prize Bond Claim Form?

PB-23 is the current claim application published by SBP Banking Services Corporation for claiming prize money on National Prize Bonds.

The form collects three main groups of information:

  • details about the claimant;
  • details of the winning Prize Bond or bonds;
  • payment and bank-account information.

It also includes a checklist reminding the claimant to attach the original and copy of the winning bond, a valid CNIC/SNIC copy and the required signatures on the reverse side of the bond and its copy.

The form is provided free of charge. SBP BSC’s National Prize Bond FAQ states that the prescribed claim form is available on the SBP website and at SBP BSC counters without a fee.

Who Needs to Submit It?

PB-23 applies to prize claims on the ordinary bearer National Prize Bonds currently available in:

  • Rs.100
  • Rs.200
  • Rs.750
  • Rs.1,500

If one of these bonds appears in a winning draw, the bondholder uses the prescribed claim process.

The form is not the normal procedure for Rs.25,000 or Rs.40,000 Premium Prize Bonds. Those are registered instruments, and National Savings states that their prize money is credited directly to the investor’s registered bank account.

Before preparing any paperwork, check your number carefully using the Saving.com.pk Power Search, then compare an important winning claim with the corresponding official draw result.

Where to Download the Latest Official Form

The safest place to obtain PB-23 is the official SBP BSC National Prize Bonds – Forms page.

That page currently lists:

  • Application for Purchase/Encashment of National Prize Bond
  • PB-1-A for mutilated/defaced bonds
  • PB-23 Prize Money Claim Application Form

Avoid saving an old form from a blog and continuing to reuse it for years. Form names, payment fields or submission procedures can change.

Saving.com.pk should explain the form and link users to the current official copy rather than hosting an old version as though it will always remain valid.

Documents to Attach

SBP BSC’s published claim guidance lists the following core documents and information:

  1. Photocopy of valid CNIC/SNIC
  2. Original winning Prize Bond
  3. Photocopy of the winning bond
  4. Required signatures on the reverse of the original bond
  5. Required signatures on the reverse of the photocopy
  6. Bank name
  7. Account title
  8. IBAN where account payment applies

The current PB-23 checklist specifically asks for the original and copy of the Prize Bond, a photocopy of valid CNIC/SNIC, and two signatures on the reverse of both the original and copy.

Keep your own copy of the completed paperwork before surrendering the original winning bond.

How to Fill the Main Fields

The current PB-23 is fairly straightforward, but details should match your documents exactly.

IBANCorrect Pakistan IBAN beginning with PKMissing or mistyped characters

These fields come from the current PB-23 published by SBP BSC; do not add fields from old forms simply because they appear on another website.

Winning Bond Details

The form has space for multiple Prize Bonds. For each winning bond, PB-23 asks for the bond’s series, serial number, date of issue, draw number, place of issue and prize-money amount.

Take extra care with numbers beginning with zero. If your bond says 004381, copy the full number rather than writing 4381.

Also make sure the draw number comes from the result in which your bond actually won.

A simple way to reduce mistakes is to check the number first through Saving.com.pk Power Search, note the draw details, and then verify them against the official result before completing the claim.

CNIC and Contact Information

Your name on the form should match your CNIC/SNIC.

The current PB-23 asks for:

  • name as per CNIC;
  • CNIC number;
  • CNIC expiry date;
  • filer/non-filer status;
  • contact number.

SBP’s guidance also identifies invalid or incomplete identification and signature problems as reasons a claim can face objections. The signatures on the original bond, its photocopy and claim paperwork should therefore be handled carefully.

Bank and Payment Information

The current PB-23 contains a Mode of Payment of Prize Money section and a separate Bank Account Details section.

The form provides cash/bank-credit options for prizes up to the applicable smaller-prize threshold and requires bank credit for larger prize amounts covered by the form. It asks for the bank name, account type, account title and IBAN.

Do not estimate or manually reconstruct an IBAN. Copy it from your bank’s official account information.

SBP’s FAQ specifically lists an incorrect account title and incorrect IBAN among common objections raised on prize claims.

Common PB-23 Mistakes

A claim can be delayed over small details.

SBP BSC identifies common objections including:

  • missing signatures;
  • invalid bond;
  • photocopy not matching the original bond;
  • incorrect account title;
  • incorrect IBAN.

Before submitting, compare the original bond and photocopy side by side.

Check the serial number again. Check your CNIC. Check the account title and IBAN.

That takes a few minutes and may save another visit.

Where to Submit the Completed Form

Current SBP BSC guidance provides different claim locations depending on the prize amount.

Prize MoneySBP BSCDesignated Commercial BankNational Savings Centre
Up to Rs.1,250YesYesYes
Above Rs.1,250 up to Rs.500,000YesYesNo
Above Rs.500,000YesNoNo

Commercial-bank submission is through participating/designated branches. SBP’s commercial-bank procedure permits designated branches to receive claims up to Rs.500,000 from their individual account holders and credit the payment to the claimant’s account after processing.

If you plan to use a commercial bank, call the branch first and confirm that it handles National Prize Bond claims.

For the full process, see Saving.com.pk’s How to Claim Prize Bond Winnings in Pakistan guide.

What Happens After Submission?

The receiving office checks the claim documents and the winning bond.

The PB-23 itself includes an office-use section for receipt of the claim and acknowledgment information. The bond and its details then go through the applicable verification process before payment is released.

Withholding tax is deducted at the prevailing rate before prize-money payment. National Savings currently states 15% for filers and 30% for non-filers.

You can read the calculation separately on the Saving.com.pk Prize Bond Tax page.

Do not delay unnecessarily. National Savings currently gives a maximum period of six years from the relevant draw date for claiming Prize Bond prize money.

FAQs

Is PB-1 still the Prize Bond prize-money claim form?

Yes. The PB-23 checklist requires the original winning Prize Bond as well as a photocopy. Both need the required signatures on the reverse.
