Saving.com.pk Fact-Checking Policy – How We Verify Prize Bond Information

Saving.com.pk publishes information that can affect real financial decisions. A reader may use the site to check a winning Prize Bond number, confirm a draw date, understand a tax deduction or find the correct claim procedure. That means factual accuracy matters more than simply publishing quickly.

Our fact-checking approach starts with a simple rule: when an official source is available for a Prize Bond fact, we prefer that source over blogs, social-media posts, screenshots or copied result pages.

National Savings is normally our first reference for Prize Bond results and scheme information. SBP and SBP Banking Services Corporation are used for official forms, circulars, operational procedures and historical notices. FBR is used where tax status or taxation specifically needs to be checked.

Saving.com.pk is independent. We do not have access to unpublished government records, and we do not claim a special relationship with National Savings, SBP or FBR.

What We Fact-Check

The amount of checking depends on the type of page.

For a Prize Bond result, the most important facts are:

  • denomination
  • draw number
  • draw date
  • draw city
  • First Prize winning number or numbers
  • Second Prize winning numbers
  • complete Third Prize list
  • applicable prize amounts

For informational guides, we may need to verify:

  • current Prize Bond denominations
  • prize structures
  • claim deadlines
  • claim locations
  • claim forms
  • purchasing procedures
  • encashment procedures
  • filer and non-filer tax treatment
  • Premium Prize Bond rules
  • draw eligibility
  • profit notifications
  • withdrawn denominations
  • historical conversion or encashment deadlines

These details are not treated as permanent simply because they were correct when an older article was written.

Our Source Hierarchy

Saving.com.pk does not give every website the same evidentiary weight.

Type of InformationPreferred Source
Prize Bond results and denomination informationNational Savings
Draw schedules and scheme informationNational Savings / SBP BSC
Official Prize Bond formsSBP BSC
Operational banking proceduresSBP / SBP BSC
Premium Prize Bond rulesNational Savings / SBP BSC
Withdrawal notices and historical circularsSBP / SBP BSC / Finance Division material
Taxpayer status and tax-specific rulesFBR
Older information unavailable from primary sourcesReputable secondary source, clearly treated as secondary

National Savings currently maintains Prize Bond FAQs and draw information, while SBP BSC maintains National and Premium Prize Bond notices, schedules, FAQs and related official material.

FBR is our preferred source when explaining the Active Taxpayers List or tax-specific filer status. FBR confirms that ATL status affects the withholding-tax rate on Prize Bond winnings.

A secondary website may help us locate an old document, but it should not silently replace a newer official source.

How Prize Bond Results Are Checked

Prize Bond result checking is handled separately from ordinary article research because one misplaced digit can change the meaning of a result.

For each draw, we aim to confirm:

Denomination
The winning list must belong to the correct Prize Bond value.

Draw number
A result from one draw should not be attached to another.

Date
The published date must correspond with that draw.

City
The draw location should match the relevant official information.

First Prize
The highest-value winning number or numbers are checked separately.

Second Prize
These numbers are also compared individually.

Third Prize
The complete available list is imported or checked rather than using only a partial sample.

National Savings and SBP BSC both provide official Prize Bond result resources. SBP BSC states that official draw lists are made available to the public and can be downloaded from SBP BSC and CDNS sources.

The detailed Saving.com.pk workflow is explained separately on How Saving.com.pk Verifies Prize Bond Results.

Why Number Formatting Is Part of Fact-Checking

Prize Bond numbers are identifiers, not ordinary numbers used for calculation.

For example:

004381

must stay:

004381

Removing the leading zeros and storing it as:

4381

would make the searchable record inconsistent with the number printed on the Prize Bond.

Saving.com.pk therefore preserves six-digit number formatting when storing winning-number records.

This is a small technical detail, but it matters when a visitor is comparing a physical bond with a database result.

How We Check Prize Amounts

Prize amounts and the number of prizes are verified according to the relevant denomination and period.

We do not assume that today’s prize structure has always applied historically.

That means a historical draw should keep the structure that applied to that period where it can be established, rather than being automatically rewritten with today’s First, Second and Third Prize amounts.

The same principle applies when current prize structures change in the future.

A current page should show current information. A historical result should remain historically accurate.

How We Check Current Prize Bond Schemes

The current scheme and historical Prize Bond system must be kept separate.

National Savings presently lists the active denominations as:

  • Rs.100
  • Rs.200
  • Rs.750
  • Rs.1,500
  • Rs.25,000 Premium Prize Bond (Registered)
  • Rs.40,000 Premium Prize Bond (Registered)

Withdrawn bearer denominations such as Rs.7,500 and Rs.15,000 should not appear in a table labelled as current denominations.

Likewise, the active Rs.25,000 and Rs.40,000 Premium Prize Bonds must not be confused with the old withdrawn bearer Rs.25,000 and Rs.40,000 bonds.

This distinction is checked when reviewing denomination pages, Premium Prize Bond guides and historical articles.

How Tax Information Is Fact-Checked

Tax information deserves extra care because it directly affects the amount a winner may receive.

We do not estimate a tax rate from an old article.

Current Prize Bond pages are checked against the relevant National Savings and FBR information. National Savings currently publishes a 15% deduction for filers and 30% for non-filers on Prize Bond winnings, while FBR confirms that ATL membership provides a lower withholding-tax rate on Prize Bond winnings.

If the law or official rate changes, the relevant Saving.com.pk pages should be updated.

We also distinguish a general tax explanation from individual tax advice. Saving.com.pk does not act as a tax adviser and does not determine a reader’s personal tax liability.

How Claim Forms and Procedures Are Checked

Claim forms can become outdated.

For that reason, Saving.com.pk should link users to the current official form rather than permanently hosting an old form and assuming it remains valid.

The same approach applies to:

  • claim thresholds
  • claim locations
  • required CNIC documentation
  • bank-account information
  • Premium Prize Bond procedures
  • lost-bond forms

A form number found on an old website is not automatically accepted as current.

Where SBP BSC publishes the relevant current form or instructions, that official page is preferred.

How Historical Facts Are Checked

Historical Prize Bond information creates a different problem: the rule may no longer be current, but it can still be historically correct.

For example, Saving.com.pk may discuss:

  • Rs.7,500 Prize Bonds
  • Rs.15,000 Prize Bonds
  • old bearer Rs.25,000 bonds
  • old bearer Rs.40,000 bonds

These should be labelled as historical or withdrawn rather than presented as current products.

For important historical dates, we prefer government notifications, SBP circulars or archived official material.

SBP BSC currently maintains a dedicated record of withdrawal notices and extensions relating to the discontinued high-value bearer Prize Bonds.

We avoid changing an exact historical date simply because a later page uses different current terminology.

How Upcoming Draw Information Is Checked

An upcoming draw is not a result.

Before balloting, Saving.com.pk may publish:

  • denomination
  • draw number
  • scheduled date
  • city

Those details are checked against the official schedule where available.

No First, Second or Third Prize winning numbers should appear until the result has actually been published.

After the draw takes place, the same Saving.com.pk page can be updated with the winning list.

You can see upcoming draw information on the Draw Schedule.

What Happens When Official Sources Disagree?

Official pages do not always update at the same time.

For example, an older National Savings FAQ may continue to show one operational procedure while a newer SBP BSC circular provides updated instructions.

When this happens, we consider:

  1. Which institution is responsible for the specific procedure?
  2. Which document is newer?
  3. Is one source a formal circular or notification?
  4. Does the newer document explicitly change the earlier rule?
  5. Is the difference material to the reader?

A newer, more specific and authoritative document normally receives greater weight than a general older page.

If the conflict cannot be resolved confidently, we prefer to explain the uncertainty rather than quietly choose one version.

What We Do When Information Changes

Prize Bond information does not remain static.

Pages involving changing information are candidates for review when there is a new:

  • government notification
  • annual draw schedule
  • tax change
  • Prize Bond form
  • prize structure
  • Premium Prize Bond profit notification
  • claim procedure
  • scheme withdrawal or deadline

Updating a current page does not mean deleting useful historical context.

Instead, current and historical information should be clearly separated.

For example:

Current rule: what applies now.

Historical rule: what applied before the change.

That allows a visitor reading an older result to understand it without mistaking historical information for today’s procedure.

Use of AI, Automation and Software

Saving.com.pk may use AI-assisted tools, software and automation for tasks such as:

  • organizing information
  • drafting or restructuring content
  • importing winning-number lists
  • identifying inconsistencies
  • performing calculations
  • formatting tables
  • maintaining searchable records

These tools are not treated as authoritative sources.

If an AI system says a tax rate is 15%, the relevant question is not whether the AI sounds confident. The rate should be checked against the appropriate official source before being presented as current financial information.

Likewise, automation can help import thousands of Third Prize numbers, but it does not remove the need to check the correct denomination, draw and source.

Corrections After Publication

Fact-checking reduces mistakes, but it cannot honestly be presented as a guarantee that an error will never appear.

Saving.com.pk therefore also maintains a correction process.

Readers can report issues involving:

  • wrong Prize Bond number
  • missing winning number
  • incorrect denomination
  • incorrect draw number
  • wrong date or city
  • inaccurate prize amount
  • outdated government procedure
  • incorrect tax information
  • broken or outdated official-source reference

Use Contact Us and include the page URL and as much specific information as possible.

A factual correction is different from an editorial preference. For example, a wrong draw date is a factual issue; preferring different wording for an introduction normally is not.

Our broader correction approach is explained in the Corrections Policy.

What Saving.com.pk Fact-Checking Does Not Guarantee

Saving.com.pk does not guarantee that:

  • every page can never contain an error;
  • every historical record is complete;
  • a database match automatically proves entitlement to a prize;
  • a government procedure will never change after publication;
  • the website can predict future winning numbers.

Most importantly, Saving.com.pk does not replace an official government result for financial claims.

A result from the Power Search is a convenient way to locate matching information. Before surrendering an original winning bond or taking another financial action, check the corresponding official record and current claim procedure.

Independent Website Disclosure

Saving.com.pk is an independent Prize Bond information website. It is not operated by or officially affiliated with National Savings, the State Bank of Pakistan, SBP BSC, FBR or the Government of Pakistan.

References to those organizations are used because they publish the authoritative records and rules that Saving.com.pk relies on for verification.

Our goal is not to replace those sources. It is to make Prize Bond information easier to search, understand and cross-check.

FAQs

Does Saving.com.pk check every result against National Savings?

National Savings is the preferred primary source for Prize Bond results. Where official SBP/SBP BSC material is directly relevant, that may also be used. Saving.com.pk’s searchable database remains a convenience tool; the corresponding official result is the final reference for a financial claim.

What happens if National Savings and SBP show different information?

We look at the date, authority, specificity and type of document. A newer formal circular or procedure may supersede an older general page. If the conflict cannot be resolved reliably, it should be disclosed rather than hidden.

Does Saving.com.pk use other Prize Bond websites as sources?

A secondary website may occasionally help locate older information, but it is not preferred where National Savings, SBP BSC or another relevant primary authority provides the fact directly.

Is AI-generated information considered verified?

No. AI and automation can assist with research organization, writing and data processing, but they are not primary sources. Current financial or procedural information should be checked against the appropriate official authority.

Can I report a wrong winning number?

Yes. Use Contact Us and include the denomination, draw number, bond number, page URL and the official source showing the difference if available.

Does Saving.com.pk guarantee that its database has no errors?

No. We aim to identify and correct material errors, but the website does not claim perfect or permanent database accuracy. Official government records remain the final reference for a Prize Bond claim
